Broward County is a county located in Southeast Florida that is full of sandy beaches, lush parks, family friendly neighborhoods, and many amazing shops, restaurants, hotels and museums. It is south of Palm Beach County and north of Miami-Dade county with notable cities by the names of Fort Lauderdale, Davie, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Coral Springs, and Pompano Beach. We have compiled a list of must-do activities, whether you are a visitor or call this great county home.

 

1. HARD ROCK HOTEL AND CASINO

2. SAWGRASS MILLS MALL

Sawgrass Mills is an outlet shopping mall in Sunrise, Florida owned by Simon Property Group. With 2,370,610 square feet of retail selling space, it is the eleventh largest mall in the United States. With more than 350 stores, including outlet locations from Nike and Ralph Lauren, plus value retailers OFF 5th Saks Fifth Avenue, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Marshalls and electronics superstore, BrandsMart USA, Sawgrass Mills has everything from fashion and jewelry to electronics, sporting equipment, beauty products, home accessories, toys and more.  There is something for everyone in this enclosed, air conditioned and climate controlled mall located just 30 minutes from Miami International Airport and 15 minutes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.  

 

3. GULFSTREAM PARK AND CASINO

This posh shopping plaza boasts trendy shops, modern eateries & a casino, plus nightlife & a racetrack. 4. FLAMINGO GARDENS

Flamingo Gardens is a 60-acre, Tropical Botanic Garden and Everglades Wildlife Sanctuary, aviary and zoo, located just west of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and north of Miami at 3750 South Flamingo Road, Davie, Florida, United States. Established in 1927, Flamingo Gardens is one of the oldest botanical gardens and attractions in South Florida. Originally founded by Floyd L. and Jane Wray as an orange grove, the nonprofit botanical gardens is home to 18 “Champion” trees, the largest trees of their species, including the largest tree in Florida. Specialized botanical gardens, including a Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden, Tom Coffey Aranda Garden, Croton Garden, and Bromeliad Garden dot the main Arboretum. The wildlife sanctuary features over 3,000 species of rare & exotic, tropical, subtropical, and native plants and trees.   Flamingo Gardens’ sanctuary is home to the largest collection of Florida native wildlife including alligators, bobcats, eagles, otters, panthers, peacocks,  and of course, flamingos! 


5. LAS OLAS BEACH

Admire the serene atmosphere on this clean and pristine-looking beach that is great for families. Bring snorkeling gear and dive into the clear water to spot the colorful fish swimming around you. Find your own spot for a picnic or rent a deck chair to settle in for sunbathing. Visitors have access to beach chair and water sports equipment rentals, restrooms and metered parking. Restaurants, bars and shops are also available across the street. Visitors rave about this beach's clean sand and clear water. If you want to experience an enjoyable and relaxing beach day this is a must visit. 

 

6. NSU ART MUSEUM

The NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale is an art museum in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Originating in 1958 as the Fort Lauderdale Art Center, the museum is now located in an 83,000-square-foot modernist building designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes.The museum, unlike major museums in nearby Miami, Florida and Palm Beach, Florida, emphasizes contemporary (20th century) projects, although the collection includes works from the 19th through to the 21st century. Among its collection of more than 7,500 pieces are a large collection of ceramics and prints by Pablo Picasso, a collection of Latin American and Cuban art representing the contributions of more than 125 artists, and North America's largest exhibition of work from the Northern European CoBrA avant-garde movement.
